Natural Wear & Tear, We Got Your Spare Parts!

Hey winchers!

It may be time for some good old TLC for your winch. As with any tool that gets a good workout through the year, there may be some parts that need replacing.

Here are the main pieces to look out for:

The rope guide and capstan drum: They will generally wear out at the same time, as the rope passes. If you replace just one of the two, it won't take long for the other to follow. This is why they are sold together in a nice kit that also includes the right screw for your convenience!

What to look out for and why you’ll need to replace them: When the drum wears out, it gets tapered towards the drum. About at the same pace, the rope guide gets thinner and shorter. This ends up creating a gap between the rope guide and the drum into which the rope can slip in. This will increase the risk of damage to your rope, which is why we recommend having those parts changed before anything happens.

You can get your replacement kit for the capstan drum and rope guide here.
For PCW3000-Li, PCW3000, PCW4000 -> PCA-1120 - Ø 3'' (76 MM)
For PCW5000 -> PCA-1110 – 2-1/4” (57 MM) or PCA-1100 – 3-3/8” (85 MM)

The second most common part that will need a little maintenance after some time is the rope entry hook.

The main reason? It may have been bent out of shape after having the hook or chain bumping into it. Or simply worn out by the rope.

For owners of PCW3000-Li, PCW3000 or PCW4000, we introduce the tension rod to go along with the entry hook. It ensures your rope is entering the winch in the optimal position, so you can focus on the task at hand. No more frustrating knots when winching – the entry hook with tension rod keeps your rope taut therefore hassle-free. You can find it here.

For owners of PCW5000, you may want to take the time to see if the rope entry pulley and the shoulder bolt are still in good condition. All those parts can be purchased separately depending on your needs. Find the complete list of parts here.
